A bonnet stripe instantly gives any vehicle a sportier, individual character – and installation is easier than many people think. With the right preparation, the appropriate installation fluid, and a little patience, you can achieve a clean, professional result without needing a workshop.

What you need to consider before installation
Before you start with the installation, there are some important points to consider – they determine whether the film adheres permanently or detaches after a short time.
Prepare the surface:
The surface must be clean, dry, and free of dirt and grease residues. Stone chips and scratches cannot be concealed by the film – they should be professionally removed beforehand to ensure a flawless result.
Temperature & Weather:
Always work at room temperature. Below +15 °C, the film becomes stiff, and its adhesive strength can be severely impaired. Also, avoid high humidity or wet conditions – both delay drying and permanently worsen adhesion.
💡 Our tip: A garage or a sheltered, dust-free area is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight during installation.
Making your own installation fluid
A professional installation fluid can be easily mixed yourself:

500 ml tap water

5–6 drops of commercially available dish soap

Pour everything into a spray bottle and shake lightly
This mixture allows the film to be precisely aligned after application – without it sticking immediately. This is the decisive advantage of wet application over dry application.
Installation – Step by step
Step 1: Clean the adhesive surface
Thoroughly remove all dirt and grease residues from the bonnet. Use the installation fluid and a clean, lint-free cloth for this. Work in circular motions and then let the surface dry briefly.
Step 2: Peel the film from the backing paper
Crease the white backing paper just before the film and carefully roll it back. This creasing allows the film to be easily and cleanly removed without damaging the edges or touching the adhesive layer.
⚠️ Important: Do not touch the adhesive layer with your fingers – skin oils impair adhesion.
Step 3: Wet the film and adhesive surface
Generously spray both sides of the film with the installation fluid as you peel it off. Also spray the vehicle surface generously. The moisture allows the film to be moved in the next step – this is the decisive advantage of this method.
Step 4: Position and align
Place the film on the wet surface and align it precisely. Thanks to the installation fluid, it can still be easily moved. Then let the film dry for approx. 15 minutes until it no longer shifts.
📐 Important note: Decorative films – unlike full vehicle wraps – are not applied around body panel edges. Maintain an even distance of approx. 4 mm from all edges. This ensures a clean, professional appearance and prevents the film from detaching at the edges.
Step 5: Squeegee – Squeeze out the liquid
Lightly spray the film again with installation fluid to avoid scratches from the squeegee. Then evenly squeegee the liquid out from the inside to the outside with the soft plastic squeegee. Work in overlapping strokes with even pressure.
💡 Tip: If the film still shifts while squeegeeing, simply let it dry for another 5–10 minutes and then squeegee again.
Step 6: Let dry – 3 days of patience
After squeegeeing, the film must dry completely – this takes three days. During this time, please do not wash the vehicle, as the adhesive layer is still curing and moisture can permanently impair adhesion.
⚠️ Remember: No washing for 3 days – then the film will last for years.
The most common mistakes – and how to avoid them

Dirty surface: Grease or wax residues prevent permanent adhesion – always clean thoroughly.

Worked too cold: Below +15 °C, the film becomes stiff and tears more easily.

Backing paper removed too quickly: Peel slowly and evenly so that the edges remain intact.

Too little installation fluid: Better to spray generously – excess liquid is squeezed out during squeegeeing.

Film glued right up to the edge: Always maintain a 4 mm distance from all body panel edges.

Washed too early: Wait at least 3 days for the film to fully cure.
Frequently asked questions about installation
Can I correct the film after installation?
Yes – as long as the installation fluid has not fully dried. After approx. 15 minutes of drying and before squeegeeing, the film can still be easily moved. After that, correction is no longer possible without removing the film.
What if small bubbles remain?
Small remaining bubbles often disappear on their own within the first few days of drying. Stubborn bubbles can be pricked with a very fine needle and then firmly pressed down.
